Tattershall Lakes
Family adventure time.. we went to Tattershall Lakes we stayed in a caravan for the weekend with a hot tub. The location was stunning with plenty of wildlife, lakes and countryside. Of course I had the children too and there were plenty of things to do, the weekend was not long enough. Here’s what we got up to.
It started on the Friday morning, we arrived at the lakes around 3.30pm the traffic was hectic so took longer to get there. We located the caravan, whilst we unpacked the children made use of the hot tub. Once everything was done the adventures began and we went for a look around. There were several lakes which you could walk around.
There were plenty of swans, Canadian geese, greylags, Egyptian geese, starlings and lots of wild rabbits. I was actually surprised I didn’t see any birds of prey, especially with the amount of rabbits.
We ended up at the park where the kids played, we then popped into the entertainment tent however that was for the smaller children, where they did some dancing and played a few games. We were shattered so the children wanted to go back in the hot tub before going to bed.
Saturday
We all slept well and got up had some breakfast before heading out to Tattershall Castle. It was stunning especially if you like history.
Here is a little about the castle
This is owned now by National Trust and was Built by Lord Ralph Cromwell, Treasurer of England, it was designed to show off his wealth, position and power. The Great Tower is one of the earliest and finest surviving examples of English medieval brickwork and was saved from exportation to America by Lord Curzon of Kedleston in 1911.
We headed in to the castle and started the steep climb up the stairs, we stopped in all the rooms. The images are below. There were also games to play on some of the floors.
At the top
We got to the top of the castle and what a view. We could actually see the caravan park with the lakes in the distance that we were staying at.
Heading back.
We headed back to the caravan park. The children went back in the hot tub, whilst we sorted the tea. After tea the children wanted to go for a walk. This is what we saw on our outing…
We walked around the lakes and saw these men on jet skis so we watched for a while. The children said they would like to have a go. So you guessed it we booked them on for a go tomorrow. We carried on the walk..
We saw starlings & Canadian ducklings they were so cute and fluffy ducklings. The starlings were very loud.
We chilled in the hot tub when we got back to the caravan, listening to the birds and watching the wild rabbits on the grass.
Sunday
Last day of the adventures.. lots to keep the children occupied. It started with jet skiing. The images of two of my daughters with the instructor. They all loved it and said was good fun. They want to all do it again. They also said they were fast. Then we went for drinks and then made our way to the inflatables that were in the middle of the lake.
The children had to get in the lake and swim over to the inflatables, then they had to go around the course without falling off, they did have slip socks on to help they stay on.
